Jacob Stephens

Owner Operator, Post Game Pizza

Pre-vet to Pizza My name is Jacob Stephens. I was born and raised in Southwest Missouri. I attended high school at Branson High School and graduated Missouri State University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Animal Science. I was delivering pizzas in college and loved the industry. While attending college and about to graduate, I entrusted a professor who was also a veterinarian, who heavily persuaded me into opening up my own Pizza Concept. I never applied to Vet School. I drew up plans, hunted down the cheapest equipment I could off of craigslist (which barely worked, if it worked at all), and formulated my concept. I started all of this at 22 years old in 2014. I got my parents involved to help me not overlook anything like formulating an LLC and Tax ID;all the stuff a 22-year-old kid is not interested in.

With a Plan in place, I started to look for brick and mortar locations. I had my eyes set on one town in-particular, a community that is family to me today! I would work by day and build our pizza store at night. Most of the labor going into the first location was performed by my parents and I. We put up the walls, painted the rooms and moved most of the equipment ourselves. We had no logo, no online ordering, no Facebook, not even a half and half button in the system. I worked that place every single day. In 2016 we finally got out first Pizza Restaurant open, Post Game Pizza. I slept on top of delivery bags in the afternoon just to get a small break. We were open 7 days a week. we were open 72 hours a week and I had a 45-minute commute each way. in the first 368 days of being open I took two days off; Christmas, and Easter.

I broke the first location into profit within 8 months. My mother was my bookkeeper at the time and she asked what I wanted to do now that we were profitable. I told her I wanted a POS developed for pizza, I wanted a website, a logo, and online ordering. I reinvested every penny of profit back into the business the second we started making profit. After we got some technology we opened a 2nd location in 2918 and then a 3rd location in 2019. We are now a high grossing independent pizza operation in Southwest Missouri bringing High Volume Chain Technology to the Local Rural Market with a Higher Quality Product at Competitive Pricing. 2023 was our new road map for streamlining and developing a system for Franchising. We left our current POS system due to lacking functions we needed going forward.
